Color coded wires are laminated to the copper strips so they won't vibrate loose, plus they make it very easy to install
Clear rubber boot (not shown) covers the top of the switch. A filter membrane helps wick water out of drain holes on the bottom of the switch and keeps the dirt from getting in.
